ABOUT US - OUR MISSION
Preserving Our Historic Literary Writers and Culture

Best Richardson African Diaspora Literature & Culture Museum is a non-profit family, disabled veteran, and woman-owned business. We request your support as we continue to provide our services to the community. We opened a rare bookstore in 1997 and began the museum with limited personal funds in 2018. BRADLC is dedicated to the education and enlightenment of diverse audiences, both youth and adults. Our mission is to highlight the literary contributions of people of the African Diaspora whose ancestors were forced into enslavement and forbidden to read or write for centuries under colonization. When their descendants were finally allowed to read, they were segregated and given outdated books and poor structures in which to learn. The effects of these restrictions still exist today, so we honor our ancestors by showcasing their literature and rich culture in our museum.

Our accompanying bookstore sells rare and Out-of-Print African Diaspora Literature. We sell Children's, Indigenous, Genealogy, and Women's Studies books. We carry leather-bound, 1st Edition, signed, and antiquarian books. Our gift shop features authentic Genuine African Artifacts, African Jewelry, Ghanaian Fans, Gullah Geechee African Cultural Art, and Baskets.

We provide our customers with knowledge of educational artifacts, genealogy classes, and informative literary and cultural history of the African diaspora. Our bookstore also carries exceptional used, rare, and new books, high-quality gift items, and reliable service.
